A FREE CPD event for Careers Advisors and Secondary Teachers

Friday 19th May 2017, 9.30am – 3.30pm

You are invited to spend an informative day at BCA (Berkshire College of Agriculture), at the stunning rural campus, near Maidenhead

The land-based and environmental sector is made up of 17 industries and is vital in protecting the health and well-being of the nation.

The face of the workforce is changing rapidly as the sector tackles the challenges presented by increasing population, climate change and environmental sustainability.

It’s not just muck and manual labour…..

  • The skills needed to support the sector have an increasing reliance on STEM
  • The sector has a predicted shortfall of 600,000 workers between now and 2020
  • The opportunities for young people are vast and varied

This CPD session will include:

  • Overview and update on the land-based sector
  • Insight into the key issues faced by the land-based sector
  • Access to teaching resources to support agriculture, food production and environmental themes
  • Exploration of opportunities for young people including vocational and academic career pathways
  • Apprenticeships update
  • Overview of land-based opportunities and facilities at BCA and beyond
  • A chance to see different areas of the College and students in action
  • An opportunity to network with College staff, industry representatives and colleagues
  • A free lunch!
