Expires Tue 4th June 2019

‘Online Safety for Kids’ is a free school and business initiative that uses McAfee employees, who volunteer to educate pupils, teachers, parents and staff at a location of your choosing on how to stay safe online, and how to maintain strong online behavioural ethics.

We have decks for KS1, KS2, KS3, KS4 & Parents/Teachers/Staff (This deck focuses on keeping your entire family protected online). The main areas of content are “Keeping your devices safe”, “keeping yourself safe” and “how you treat others online”. Depending on the age ranges, we will go into these topics in various levels of detail.

We have recently added sessions at local businesses into our portfolio. This came out of the understanding that parents evenings in schools are not always the best attended for various reasons so therefore, we should find other ways to get in front of “parents” and staff that may be interested in learning to be safe online. We can tailored these sessions to particular topics, but have a standard deck which we could run through in an hour lunch break.

We also run full day workshops for Years 7 and 8 where we work with the whole year group in small groups (usually divided by forms) and run a series of interactive workshops and a drama project based on social media scenarios. This will usually require the school to go “off-timetable” for a day, but the feedback is so positive from staff and pupils alike.

As the largest and most dedicated security company, McAfee has a tremendous opportunity to provide children and families with the knowledge they need to remain safe from a variety of online threats ranging from cyber criminals to cyber bullies. If you are interested in our volunteers presenting then please let us know.”
