Year 7 Careers Question Time at The Beaconsfield School, Monday 29 April 2019
Could you help our Year 7s to discover a whole range of possible futures?
The Beaconsfield School is inviting business volunteers into the classroom for an hour on Monday 29 April from 8.40 – 9.40am (8.30 arrival) to be questioned about their careers by the students.
We know from research that “young adults who recall four or more encounters with employers while at school are five times less likely to be NEET (not in education, employment or training) and earn on average 18% more than peers who recall no such activities” – so you’d be helping to set our students on the right path.
There’s no need for you to prepare anything: students will have devised questions beforehand to help them understand what you do, why you do it and how you got there.
It’s also a good opportunity for them to meet adults in a formal situation and learn ‘meet and greet’ networking skills.
The format of the session:
• You will be paired with up to three other volunteers from different industry sectors.
• Your group will be questioned by a class of 30 students for 30 minutes.
• The volunteers then move to the next class for another 30 minute round of questions.
• There will be 5 classes running at the same time. The students won’t meet everyone, but they will hear from a range of careers.
Please get in touch if you are available. We look forward to hearing from you.
