(Gatsby benchmark 7)
We are working with Study Higher to strengthen connections between universities and schools in Buckinghamshire – and help you achieve Gatsby benchmark 7.
Study Higher is a collaborative network of Higher Education providers which delivers outreach activities to young people, led by Oxford Brookes University and funded by the Office for Students (‘OfS’) as part of the National Collaborative Outreach Programme (’NCOP’). To date, this work has been limited to a small number of schools, but outreach support is now being widened.
Study Higher aims to support schools to:
- Motivate more students from Year 9 onwards to consider HE
- Achieve an increase in the numbers of students actually taking up HE with a particular focus on students from disadvantaged backgrounds
It will support your school to identify gaps in HE provision and access outreach via its HE institution partners: Oxford Brookes University, The University of Oxford, The University of Reading and Buckinghamshire New University. This might include workshops about writing personal statements, student finance, choosing and applying to university; university campus trips; and/or resources for teachers. This will support schools towards achieving Gatsby Benchmark 7.
