(Gatsby benchmark 1-8)
Start planning now for National Careers Week, which runs from 2nd – 7th March next year. It’s a great way of getting the whole school behind careers: from parents to students, subject leaders to form tutors.
Here are a few ideas to start you thinking:
- Organise a drop-down Careers Day for a particular year group with a carousel of different workshops.
- Run a whole-school ‘careers in the curriculum’ week: ask all teachers to highlight careers within heir existing lessons and invite a professional in to talk about how their job brings a particular topic to life (no need to go off-timetable and a great way to fulfil Gatsby Benchmark 4).
- Invite in a different employer each day to speak about a particular industry sector during assembly.
- Plan activities during form time each day: create a quiz, watch BBC Bitesize Careers together, learn about job sectors and pathways from CareerPilot.
