So how can Roller Derby – the fastest growing female sport in the world – have anything to do with girls and STEM?
Discover how on Saturday March 9th at Wycombe Leisure Centre where Roller Derby and STEM will collide!
This Bucks Skills Hub event as part of National Science Week will enable your female students to be awestruck by the athletic ability of at least 30 female STEM ‘roll’ models. This is followed by a speed networking event.
Women come from a wide range of industries: construction, mechanical engineering, software engineering, programming, medical research, legal (technology focus), prison and probation services (analyst), pharmaceutical (a Beaconsfield High School alumni), and analytical chemistry to name just a few.
Many of our referees, players and non-skating officials (NSOs) have played at a very high level, some representing their country, others officiating at Roller Derby world cups.
Players, refs and NSOs are coming from far and wide – from High Wycombe itself to the Orkney Islands and Ireland – specifically to inspire your students.
Event 1: (timings TBC) – Key Stage 4 students.
Event 2: (timings TBC) – Key Stage 5 students.
More information on this free event will be sent out to Careers Leaders in mid-January.
